Sensogenoma26 celebrates the fifth anniversary of Sensogenoma, a project that brings together music, science and citizen participation to investigate how our bodies respond to musical stimuli. Five years after that first experience, Sensogenoma continues to grow thanks to the participation of hundreds of people and to the collaboration between researchers, musicians, institutions and patient associations.
Sensogenoma26 featured the participation of the Real Filharmonía de Galicia, in collaboration with the Municipal Band of Santiago de Compostela, conducted by Roberto Baltar, with the special collaboration of music journalist Martín Llade.
This edition included donors from 11 patient associations: Asperga, Aspanaes, Bata, Agadea, Dano Cerebral Santiago de Compostela, Ugade, Lar Saúde Mental Vilagarcía, A Creba, Fonte da Virxe, Miastenia Ames and AEPEF.
During this edition, we continued to study the biological, physiological and emotional responses associated with the musical experience, incorporating new samples and data into the research. Music does not change the sequence of our DNA. Among other aspects, Sensogenoma investigates how musical stimuli may be associated with changes in the expression of certain genes and with different responses in our bodies.
